What we are working toward: Food as a Natural Human Right
In 2018, we started a garden. It was much bigger than we needed, but we didn't know that at the time. Pretty soon we had far too many vegetables for ourselves and no experience cooking or storing them. The solution seemed to be: Go to the Farmers’ Market. For the past few years, we've been going to Farmers’ Markets and trying to spread the word about growing high quality food.
Learning something new like Market Gardening has been an interesting and exciting experience. We've gotten to know our community and are pleased in the relationships that we've built surrounding quality food. Our mission has expanded, and now we would like to see people all over our city and valley taking the initiative to grow their own high quality produce at home.
We have honed in on the specific needs of plants out here in the High Desert. We have learned to be very successful in our techniques and want to share this with others so that they might be able to skip a lot of the failures that we learned from.
It is our belief that high quality food is a natural human right and that everybody should be eating high quality food everyday. It's our goal to install as many gardens for people and provide ongoing gardening support and information to our neighbors. As our community continues to grow food at home, we can make a noticeable and positive difference in the food we eat and where it comes from.
